What'S Your Waterpot?

Scriptural text-(John 4:1-42)

Main text(John 4:28-29)

Praise the Lord. I am wanting to share with you today a message I preached several years ago. The Lord gave me this message and I feel it necassary to share it with you the many readers on bible truths revealed. Also I am giving this to you preachers to minister to your churches and meetings all over the world. It is God's Word and Bro. Josh doesn't own the copyright to it so use it and post it whereever you desire.

(John 4:4) declares He must needs go through Samaria. Highlight that verse in your bible as you read through John 4 as part of the text.

Scriptural Setting.

Jesus had left Judea, and departed into Galilee, and as He went through Samaria to a city called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob gave his son Joseph.

Make note that, Jesus was an Israelite, and the setting of this complete scene was uncommon. Why? Because the Jews had no dealing at all with the Samaritans. They were not seen together, did not worship together, did not interact together, because the Samaritans to the Jews were second class citizens.

This bitterness stems from the Assyrian oppression of Israel. This was during the time when the King of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthoh, and Ava, and Hamath, and from Sepharvarim and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of Israel and they possessed Samaria(2Kings 17:24)

The Samaritans feared the Lord and yet served their own gods after the manner of the nations who carried them from where they were at. In time the Samaritans still feared the Lord and served their graven images, their children and their childrens children.

So this whole setting, Jesus sitting at the well in Sychar in Samaria was unlikely but Jesus must needs go through Samaria! Jesus knew there was someone there whose life was a mess, who needed the void in their lives filled, needed Jesus to show up and when Jesus shows up He makes the difference.

(John 4:6-15) 6Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. 7There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. 8  (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) 9Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.  10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. 11The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?  12Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? 13Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. 15The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

Notice the Lord spoke to this woman who said sir you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep from whence do you have this living water? Where is this living water coming from if you dont have anything to draw it up with? She asked are you greater then Jacob our father who gave us this well? Jesus said if you drink from this water you will thirst but the water I give if you drink of it you will never thirst again. The woman said give me this water so I wont thirst and so I wont have to come here and draw again. Jesus was speaking about the baptism of the Holy Ghost and told this woman I will give you water to quench your thirst and the women like so many where I have preached are tired and weary and thristy and only Jesus can quench that thirst.

You see the waterpot that the woman brought with her to draw out water was her escapegoat or the vehicle she used to get away from her situation at home and brought to her temporary relief from an ongoing nightmare.

(John 4:16-19) 16Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. 17The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 18For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. 19The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

Jesus knew this womans heart and right where she was. She was transparent with the Lord when he revealed she had 5 failed marriages and the man that she was living with was not her husband. He revealed this to her to show he knew right where she was at and not to his dicsiples or a multitude of people. People revealing another persons sins in front of a group of people isnt words of wisdom or words of knoweldge but is out of order and is not of God. The lord reveals sin but not to embarrase people but to let them know he knows right where they are at.

This waterpot this woman brought with her was the very thing she used to try to fill the emptiness in her life, but when Jesus showed up and said he would fill that thirsting, and void in her soul, the vehicle she once used to leave her reality was suddenly left at Jesus feet and she went on rejoicing saying come see a man, who told me everything I ever did He is the Christ.(John14:28 )

What is your waterpot? What are you using to steer your mind away from the mess in your lives? What thing have you implemented into your lives to try and fill a void God placed in your lives only He can fill?

To some their waterpot is alcohol. To some it's their jobs. To some it's an adulterous fling. To some it's drugs. No matter how big the waterpot their is room for it at Jesus feet.

(1Peter 5:6-7)6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Need someone to talk to who understands your struggles, who is touched by your infirmities: Who will not itre out and tune you out and turn you off when your revealing your heart? Need a friend that will stick closer to you then a brother? Need a friend who wont expose the secret matters of your life to the world? The bible declares in in (1 Peter 5:7) Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (John 6:37) 37All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

If you are going through troubles tonight, and you do neet see a way out, or an end to the trial or storm you are facing. Know this that with every trial, temptation and storm Jesus will be your way of escape.

(1 Corinthians 10:13) 13There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Come and see a man who can change your life and give you a brand new life! Come see a man who is more than a man who can turn your grey skies to blue! Come see this Jesus who cares so much for you that He is willing to step down into your situations and is willing to go through them with you and He will bring you out. I ask again what is your waterpot?

The Apostle Paul being left a prisoner by Felix in the presence of Herod Agrippa the 2nd, Felix's replacement was a man named Festus who heard Paul's case. The APostle Paul who had appealed to be heard by Augustas Caeser, first had to be tried by King Agrippa the 2nd.

Agrippa gave Paul a permit to speak and Paul declared to Agrippa that he would answer for all of which he was accused of the Jews. He gave to Agrippa histestimony, now those of the household of Herod was not Jewish by birth but of Idumean origin but they were Jewish in Faith.

The Apostle Paul told Agrippa about his encounter with Jesus on the Damsacus road and made it clear that he was not disobedient to that heavenly vision. He preached to Agrippa the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the resurrection and that Jesus the light was also sent to the Gentiles.

Festus the governor said, Paul much learning has made you mad and Paul said with respect and dignity I am not mad most noble Festus but speak the words of soberness and truth.

(Acts 26:26-29) 26For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner. 27King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. 28Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. 29And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

Agrippa feeling the conviction of the Holy Ghost said, almost you have persudaded me to be a christian.What was his waterpot? What was it that kept him from giving his life to Jesus Christ? Was it his position as King? Was it the gold and the fancy palaces and the fancy clothes? Or was he afraid to believe the Gospel for fear that he would loose all he had inherited?

Once again I ask what is your waterpot? What is keeping you from coming to Jesus and drinking of this living water that will quench the longing and thirsting of your souls? What has got you almost persuaded? What is your waterpot?

Jesus said all who come to me I will in no wise cast out (John 6:37).  Will you come to him today? Only he can take the trash of your life and make it a treasure. Only he can make change you from junk to jewel. Only he has the power to set you free.

All you have to do and it is very simple. You must be born again (a 2nd time from above) of water and of the Spirit or you cannot enter into the Kingdom of God(1 John 3:5). Godly sorrow works in us repentance unto Salvation (2 Corinthians 7:10) For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. When a person repents they submit their lives to Jesus and obey His commandments.

Once we repent we are water baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission (forgiveness) of sins and God promises us the gift of the Holy Ghost that is evidence by speaking in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives the utterance(Acts 2:38).

(Acts 2:37-39, 41) 37Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call....41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Come to the Lord today and leave your waterpot at the feet of Jesus Christ.
