Would a pinewood derby truck work?
Im making my first pinewood derby car with my daughter and was wondering if i made a truck design using the end of wood where the axels are furthest back as the front and rounding the top and bottom a bit and cutting the back down like a bed if that wouldn't work better then a wedge because there is more weight in front. Also was going to drill out a couple hole and put 2 AAA batteries in them as weight. Would this work? Just curious in theory it makes seance to me because there would be a lot of weight pulling it down. as where a wedge it would be in the back...
I've done Pinewood Derbies my entire life with boy scouts, and won every time. The easiest design is to make a car that is just an angle cut from the front, bottom, edge up to about 2/3 of the way back. Then on the bottom cut from about a centimeter from the back up to the top, back edge. Sand the the edges for a smooth round finish. Paint it with spray paint, then varnish the underside for a slick finish. Drill a few holes on the back top, and use a few brads to hold some fishing sinkers. That's all you need do.
