Gemstone Mines
Gemstone Mines
The Scarlet Letter, was a reference to the roses by the prison door.?

In one chapter, Hawthorne makes a reference to the rose bush as a "fall In this June, with its delicate gems ...". A classmate of mine noticed that the Gem is Pearl for June. Everyone recognizes the name? Hester's daughter. Do Hawthorne you had this knowledge and incorporated it into the novel on purpose, or would it have been a happy coincidence?

anything by Hawthorne was an accident, he was very thorough. He loved underlying messages. He knew exactly what he said with that and any other hidden observation in all his novels. <3
