Is It Real Diamonds Or Cubic Zirconias?

Do you ever wonder if you have a real diamond or just a pretty imitation the cubic zirconia. Below are some of the ways to tell which one you have.

One of the things that someone can do to find out if it is a real diamond is to see if the stone is completly clear all the way through or not. If it is then it is more than likely a fake or cubic zirconia. The reason for this is because only the rarest of diamonds is completly clear.

Another great way to tell the two stones apart is to put the stone down onto a page of a book, newspaper or magazine and see if you can read the words clearly through the stone. If you can than this is more than likely not a real diamond and more than likely a cubic zirconia. Diamonds usually have some kind of imperfection in them that disallows this.

Also another test that is eay to do is the breathe test is a test that uses your breathe to tell if the stone holds heat or not. It works by breathing on the stone like you would a pair of glasses and watching how fast the fog goes away. If it goes away fast then it could be a diamond, if to goes away slow then it is probably a cubic zirconia.

The letters C.Z. are another great indicator of if the stone is real or not. If these letters are found on the piece of jewelry, then more than likely the stone is a fake. On the other hand if you see numbers with the letter k behind them then there is a chance that the stone might be real.

The weight test works well if you have a stone that you know for sure is a diamond. Weigh the stone in question against the known diamond. If the known stone weighs considerably less than it is more than likely a fake. Cubic Zirconia stones weigh 1.7 times more than a diamond.
