3. how is the typical leaf adapted for carrying out photosynthesis? include the functions of the following leaf parts:
-cuticle
-chloroplasts
-stomates
-guard cells
-cuticle is a water proof layer that surrounds the leaf and keeps the water from evaporating
-chloroplasts carry out the photosynthesis ( don't want to get into the details of photosynthesis in the chloroplasts can go on for days)
-stomates: little tiny holes in the leaves that allow CO2 to enter, while that occurs water and O2 excap
-guard cells: control the opening of stomates, when they are swollen this means theres a lot of water in the plant so it can afford to lose some water the guard cells open stomates to allow the CO2 into the plant.
